The Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program at Baylor College of Medicine is committed to training clinical and academic leaders in the field of Pediatric Critical Care. The Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Section currently consists of over 80 full-time pediatric critical care, cardiac intensive care, and anesthesiology physicians.

The clinical training of our fellows occurs at the Medical Center Campus of Texas Children’s Hospital, the largest pediatric hospital in the United States, and an affiliated hospital of Baylor. The critical care units, The Heart Center, which includes the Cardiac Intensive Care units are located in the Lester and Sue Smith Legacy Tower. The Lester and Sue Smith Legacy Tower consists of 19 new floors for the Sections of PCCM and Cardiology that also includes the Cardiac Catheterization labs, as well as, the Cardiovascular high acuity operating rooms.

Our fellowship program, with 21 fellows, is the largest in the country and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. We have been training fellows in pediatric critical care medicine since the early 1980s and have trained more than 130 fellows to date. Our pediatric sub-specialty training program is 36 months in duration with approximately 21 months spent on clinical service and approximately 15 months spent engaging in scholarly activities. The program provides fellows with experiences that encompass breadth and depth in both clinical practice and scholarship.
