Discover the city of Houston and see how our competitive stipend will take you further than most major cities across the country!

We are focused on the individual needs of our students. Therefore, teaching is not a requirement for earning a stipend. If you envision a future that includes teaching, you may choose to gain experience as teaching assistants for graduate courses as well as through other opportunities available to our students. If you do not want to teach, you have the freedom to focus exclusively on your education and research as well as working with mentors to take advantage of other Baylor resources that match your interests.

"I am from New York and find Houston to be a great city. There is so much diversity, lots of things to do a cost of living that is far lower than other major cities. I was a dancer and am a big proponent of the arts. I go the ballet and symphony a lot and the companies here are excellent.

It is obviously difficult to have a newborn in graduate school. But, the faculty and my fellow students have been so supportive. The health benefits and proximity to every type of sub-specialist have also been amazing."
Rachel Curry, Ph.D. Student
