Thank a Postdoc
We are celebrating more than 500 research postdoctoral associates and fellows at Baylor College of Medicine. Take a moment to acknowledge their contributions and accomplishments. Here are a few ways to thank a postdoc!
- Post an appreciation message on the Kudoboard. More details are below.
- Send a personal note of thanks and give a small token of appreciation.
- Highlight their contributions on Twitter (use #NPAW2020) and elsewhere.
- Leave a recommendation or kudos on their LinkedIn page.
- Nominate them for awards.
- Create opportunities to introduce them to colleagues in the field.
Kudoboard for Postdocs
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs is hosting a Kudoboard for faculty, staff, students, and postdocs to post messages and images of appreciation for research postdoctoral associates and fellows at Baylor College of Medicine. The Kudoboard is open for contributions and will close on Sept. 18, 2020. The final Kudoboard will be shared during NPAW.
Monday, Sept. 21
Keynote: Mentoring Matters
Speakers: Christine Pfund, Ph.D. and John Beacom, Ph.D.
12 - 1 p.m.; sponsored by NPAW Collaboration
Christine Pfund, Ph.D., will discuss the science of mentorship, the need for improved mentorship of postdocs and what institutions and organizations can do to advance mentorship. John Beacom, Ph.D., will discuss his experience in mentorship through real life practice.

Town Hall: Postdoctoral Affairs
Speaker: Evelin Young, Ph.D.

The Town Hall will give an overview of the roles of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and highlight the PROS recruitment program, policy updates, the professional skills development programming for postdocs. We welcome postdocs, faculty, and staff to attend.

Postdoc-Postdoc Interactions: Networking
Panel: Jennifer Johnson, Ph.D., Jordan Kho, Ph.D., Cory Massey, Ph.D. and Martina Sgritta, Ph.D.
2 - 3 p.m.; organized by the BCM Postdoc Association
The goal of this event is to share networking resources and tips among the BCM postdoctoral community. The event will be led by a panel of BCM postdocs who actively participate in social networking mediums (Twitter, LinkedIn, in-person) and/or to take on leadership roles in career development activities. The event will be followed by a virtual networking session, where the audience will be broken up into small groups to exercise virtual networking skills.

Workshop: Leadership Skills

Join the Postdoc Academy for the second session of the Fall Workshop Series. In this interactive workshop, participants will reflect on their perceptions of and experiences with leadership. Participants will apply a leadership approach to a current or future career role.
