About the Lab
The Lloyd lab is focused on the following research areas. Read information on each area.
RNA Granules and Virus
By definition, stress granules contain translation initiation factors (eIF3, eIF4E, eIF4G, eIF4A, eIF4B) found in stalled translation initiation complexes (cartoon inset). Bonafide stress granules are formed in PV infected cells from 2-3 hrs post infection (marked with eIF3a and eIF4E), then are rapidly destroyed, leaving only Tia-1 foci devoid of stalled mRNA initiation complexes. These remaining foci are pseudo-stress granules.
