Dear Members of the Baylor College of Medicine Community,
Omicron continues to have an impact. New coronavirus cases have doubled in the past month due to Omicron. In some states, including Hawaii, Maine and Puerto Rico, case counts will surpass the levels seen during last year's Delta surge.
Globally, outbreaks are being seen in Beijing and Hong Kong and there is a full lockdown of Shanghai. Coronavirus cases are surging again in South Africa possibly due to the B4/5 variants. Meanwhile, the EU has ended the emergency phase of the coronavirus pandemic.
News on the staggering global death rate from coronavirus, vaccines and treatments are all included in this week’s video.
And most important, you will want to pay special attention to Lily’s 10-point plan to prepare us for the next pandemic.
