Dr. Peter Saggau has been appointed as an emeritus professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Saggau was among the first wave of recruits to Neuroscience and quickly established an outstanding research program in optical methods for studying neuronal activity and circuit function. Dr. Saggau played a particularly important role in helping other researchers at BCM establish his innovative, cutting edge optical methods for their research programs.
After 24 years at BCM, Dr. Saggau was named a senior director at the Allen Institute for Brain Science, while retaining an adjunct appointment in the Department of Neuroscience. He recently stepped down from the Allen Brain Institute and has been named an Emeritus Professor of our Department in recognition of his important contributions to the Department of Neuroscience and Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Saggau continues to pursue an active intellectual and scientific life, including collaborations as a visiting Professor at the Italian Institute of Technology in Genoa, Italy, and the University of Barcelona, Spain.
