Section Overview
The Baylor College of Medicine Section of Neonatology is among the largest academic neonatology divisions in the United States with 40 full-time faculty who receive nearly two million dollars annually in extramural funding and have authored more than 500 publications in the last five years. In the area of research the section discovers and implements innovative laboratory and clinical research and treatment advances aimed at securing superb outcomes for newborns and their families.
Physicians attend the nurseries in eight Houston-area hospitals—four in the Texas Medical Center and four community hospitals. The Neonatology section serves as a model for its leadership in newborn medicine, offering state-of-the-art therapies aimed at securing the highest quality outcomes for newborns and their families.The section provide personalized, exemplary, family-centered health care to newborns.
The section's Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship Program was one of the first such fellowship programs established in the United States and is currently among the largest academic neonatology training programs. The section is focused on providing world-class training and education for current and future leaders in the field of neonatology.
