Financial Aid Award Notification


The 2020-2021 award notification letters are sent out to students beginning Feb. 1 and throughout the academic year. The academic year begins July 1, 2020, and ends June 30, 2021. Disbursement of funds is based on the program and year. The second disbursement of funds is issued within the first two weeks of January for all students except second-year PA students. The PA2 class mid-year second disbursement is issued within the last two weeks of February

Timeline for Awards


Once all required documents are submitted and reviewed for eligibility, the following occurs:

  1. Students will be awarded loans and/or scholarships up to the budget allowance and availability of funds.
  2. Students will be e-mailed a financial aid award letter with award information and further instructions.
  3. Returning students can also review their award status in the CAMS student portal: Please check the CAMS portal periodically for any missing documents. Returning students must accept, reduce, or decline loan awards through the CAMS student portal.
  4. An e-mail must be sent to accepting, reducing or declining any awarded offers from incoming students. If accepting all aid offered, the e-mail should contain the following, "I, ____, accept all funds awarded to me for academic year 2020/2021". Reducing or declining aid should state specific loan name and dollar amount.
  5. If awarded an Institutional Loan, an MPN must be completed at, you will receive an e-mail notification from HeartlandECSI with login instructions a few days after the loan has been accepted.
  6. If awarded a Federal Stafford Loan and/or a Grad Plus Loan, a Master Promissory Note (MPN) must be completed at, unless they are still valid (received one during the last 12 months from BCM)
  7. An annual online entrance counseling is required for all students accepting federal Unsubsidized Stafford and Grad Plus Loans at

Generally, financial aid checks and e-refund deposits are disbursed at the beginning of each semester. All financial aid (loans, merit and need base scholarships awards) are first credited to each student's account to pay tuition and fee charges. To view your BCM student account balance and pending financial aid at any time, please log in to the BCM Student Portal. (Returning students only. Incoming students until given access to the portal.)

Once all charges are paid, any remaining credit will be refunded to the student to be used to pay for books, supplies and living expenses. Refunds are processed by the office of Student Account Services. Student may elect to receive refunds either by Direct Deposit or by check, mailed to the student’s home address of record. If you are receiving VA educational benefits, your refund will be reviewed prior to issuance. Students receiving VA education benefits (Chapter 33/Post 9/11): The net cost of tuition and fees are assessed at Baylor College of Medicine after the application of any waiver of, or reduction in, tuition and fees; and any scholarship, or other Federal, State, institutional, or employer-based aid or assistance (excluding loans).
