Professional Statement
As a lab manager and research assistant in the Cooper Lab I contribute to several projects that focus on detailing the molecular mechanisms of myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1). Many of these projects involve the use of mouse models and therefore I have experience in mouse handling, phenotyping, and colony management. Individuals affected by DM1 exhibit many symptoms, however, the two leading causes of death are due the skeletal muscle and heart abnormalities, therefore our lab primarily focuses on understanding the disease mechanisms particularly in these two systems. I have screened for cardiac and skeletal muscle phenotypic changes in several of our mouse lines to gain insight in these two severely affected systems. Furthermore, I have served as the main driver behind a study that is involved in a Scientific Research Agreement. Additionally, as lab manager I am responsible for lab maintenance, including but not limited to ordering, equipment maintenance, and standard operating procedures for the lab.Log In to edit your profile
