Neurotransmitter metabolism and nutrient competition of gut microbiota are the focus to understand the pathogenesis of C. difficile infection for developing novel therapeutics against C. difficile.
Microbiome informatics of human diarrheal diseases
The goal is to apply multi-omics approaches including metagenomics, metabolomics and metaproteomics for identifying microbial and host features of different types of diarrhea. Key aspects include colonization vs infection state of infectious diarrhea, active vs quiescent disease state of non-infectious diarrhea.
